Q: Where is Maidendown Bay located?
A: We are located in Marion , SC on 930 acres of pristine land. Turn off Highway 501 bypass to East Highway 41 follow 1.5 miles to entrance.

Q: What dates are you open?
We open October 1 – March 31. We hunt Monday – Saturday.  

Q: Do we have lodging?
We offer RV Parking and ground camping. There is a local Comfort Inn where reservations can be made by calling 843-423-0516. Ask for the Maidendown Bay Hunting Preserve discount. The hotel is within 3 miles of the hunting preserve.

Q: What are your hunting license requirements?
A: A valid SCDNR hunting license is required. Anyone born after 1979 must supply a copy of their Hunters Safety Course. All out of State hunters must buy a hunting preserve permit. Call 843-423-3443 for information as to how to purchase the permit.

Q: What time are your hunts?
A: Morning upland bird hunts are from
9:00 to 12:00 . Afternoon upland bird hunts are from 1:30 to 4:30 . Duck hunts start at sunrise.  

Q: How many people are allowed per party?
A: No more than 3 hunters are allowed per hunt. With proper booking we can accommodate a party of 12 in upland bird hunts and a party of 30 in duck hunts.  

Q: Are there any special requirements for children?
A: Children 15 and under must be accompanied by a licensed hunter.  

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: We accept cash, check, Mastercard, Visa, Discovery and American Express.
 

Q: Should hunters tip the guides?
A: Guides are well trained and should be tipped according to your hunting experience.

Q: Can hunters bring their own dogs?
Hunters may choose to use their own dog, but guides must accompany the hunt.

Q: Are coolers or ice furnished?
A: No, coolers and ice are not furnished.

Maidendown Bay Gun and Golf Hunting Preserve and staff assume no liability for and will in no way be held responsible for personal injury and/or property damage occurring while using the Maidendown Bay Gun and Golf Hunting Preserve.

While at Maidendown Bay Gun and Golf Preserve, I AGREE to follow all range, hunting, and gun safety rules. The safety of all sportsmen is the ultimate goal of Maidendown Bay Gun and Golf Hunting Preserve while at the same time enjoying this great sport. There will be a limit of 3 shooters per guide (exceptions must be approved by the guide).

Alcohol and drugs do not mix with shooting and the consumption of such in the blind or on the range will lead to immediate removal from the range and/or hunting blinds.

  Blind Safety Rules and Hunting Guidelines:

  1. Follow all instructions of the range master and guides; REMEMBER SAFETY FIRST!!!
  2. Load only when instructed to do so by the guides.
  3. No firing out of the end of the blinds.
  4. During a cease fire, all guns must be unloaded.
  5. Fire at a 45 degree angle only inside the blinds.
  6. A HIT bird is a counted bird, even if it keeps on flying. (Note: Feathered, drop a leg, fall but not found, a visible hit but the bird dose not fall immediately.)
  7. During retrieval no gun is to be loaded.
  8. Do not fire at a wounded bird on the water or ground. The guide will give instructions, and at the proper time shoot the bird.
